JK Rowling is keynote speaker for Harvard University Commencement June 5, 2008.

I've been on JK Rowling's official wbesite, and she answers all of her fan questions. There's one that I've been dying to ask her, and its bugging me like heck. How do I send her my question?

Question:
In Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, the Dursleys have no idea that Harry isn't allowed magic outside of Hogwarts during the summer. Wouldn't Petunia already know this, as her sister attended Hogwarts for seven years?

What do you think about JK Rowling suing the guy who wants to publish a Harry Potter lexicon? I think that JK Rowling is being stupid, personally. I think she got a little taste of fame and her head exploded. What do you think? The most detailed answer will win.

I think it's a load of bogus. Both sides.

I mean, copyrights are copyrights, but still. Don't sue the guy, just ask for a cut of profits and a bigas55 credit.... geez, lady. She's created this world, and been extremely supportive so far with fanfic and stuff...perhaps too supportive. It was bound to bite her sometime. it's called karma. my personal theory is that to finish the deathly hallows she read a bunch of people's fanfics online. and hey, it would be perfectly legal, seeing as she owns the rights they acknowledge they're not infringing by not claiming profits or whatever.... It was all just a little too familiar, the way everything turned out.....

I personally think she needs a little taste of her own medicine. I mean, she's not even all that creative: the bulk of her world is taken word-for-word for mythology. The larger bulk. The story is emotion at its core, yes, and that come from the author. But I don't think she actually had that much to do with it. I think she had a bit of a buzz, she borrowed quite a bit from existing materials... and then she got lucky. really, really, disgustingly lucky... She should be freaking honored that people love her work so much that they have worked hard enough to compile this TRIBUTE, yes, that's what it is, tribute, to her world. Technically, she still owns the rights. So it would be out of whack for someone to want to take 'sole' credit for the work. She owns it, but she did none of the work of tracking down all the little bits of information and timelines and everything..... THAT right there deserves some respect, at least. There's two sides to the fence here, but really it shouldn't be that way. there should be a gate at least.....I mean, come on.

Not to bust your chops or anything, but.....Let me tell you what I know about this, and Ms. Rowling..
She was a poor woman raising a child I believe, and because she was a nice lady, to stay warm, she'd go into this coffee shop and do nothing but write, and the coffee shop didn't mind.. She wrote on napkins, anything...She sat at a table in a back yard, and did nothing but write.
Here is a woman, poorer then dirt, with a "Passion" to do nothing but write down all her "Harry Potter stuff/ideas etc", and when published, made MILLIONS of CHILDREN, all over the WORLD mind you, WANT to READ!! Most kids HATE reading. Her books sold as fast as they were printed. NO ONE as far as I know has EVER done that!! Sure she made a ton of money. SHE earned it! Not this goofball! (believe me, the publishing company made plenty off of her) So saying her head exploded because of a little taste of fame, is not a "fair" statement towards her at all! She has been reported as being one of the most down to earth, a bit eccentric person you'd ever meet. She is the one who spent literally thousands of hours to put her ideas into book form. That took so much time, I can't even imagine, all the details of details she wrote.
Brilliant story and characters. She isn't being stupid. She is protecting her craft, her project, her idea, I hope she wins and nails this guy to a wall. YOU, who posted this, you come up with a story, and I'll just steal it from you. Put my name on it for personal gain....YOU or anyone else wouldn't want someone to STEAL what is rightfully yours. And that is EXACTLY what he is trying to do...Harry Potter fans don't NEED this book, this guy just wants to get rich off of someone else's hard work, period! I don't need the ten points, that isn't why I answered this. I just wanted to perhaps make you see why it isn't stupid what she is doing.

I'm looking for an interview with JK Rowling to use as part of a lesson i'm planning to teach about interviews. I want a video clip of an interview but it cant be from youtube as the school's filter will block this site! Any ideas where i can find it? Cheers for any suggestions :-)

I really want to know what happened to the Dursleys, and which career paths Harry, Ron, Hermione and the others took. I want to know this stuff from JK Rowling and not some phonies who give away false information. Is there any link to a site/interview with Rowling to satisfy all these questions?

Yes it came on the news this week and she told everybody that harry and ron become Aurors and hermonie becomes head of the magical law enforcement. You didn't miss all of the t.v specials one comes on this sunday on chanel 9 on dateline. It will be a one hour interview so don't miss it.
Plus she didn't put it in the book because she said that it only worked as a draft. These came on the today show on the same chanel. So Sunday night on dateline, Harry Potter the final chapter!
