Slated for release in 2010, 'The People vs George Lucas' delves into the impassioned feelings and opinions expressed by fans and foes of ...
I was looking at a list of Notable Directors and I noticed George Lucas didn't make the list. I looked him up on wikipedia and it also counted him as an Independent Film Director.
because he's not. He has made some visually stunning movies that raised the bar as far as effects go but most of the acting is iffy at best and don't even get me started on the dialogue. Just because I adore the Star Wars franchise (yes, even TPM) doesn't mean I can't see their faults. He's a solid businessman with a creative vision and his movies are sheer entertainment - they just don't have the depth and originality that would push him into the notable category.

i was talking with someone at gamestop and they said george lucas announced a new live action film based on "the force unleashed" and im like siked for it and i wanna know if its just a rumor or not.
To put it plainly ... "someone" is so full of it that it is pouring out of their ears. There is a book for a basic story line of "The Force Unleashed" but come on now ... games may start as "canon" with the story but as soon as you make your first move "canon" goes out the window. This is true with almost ALL the Star Wars games.
So no ... there will not be another live action Star Wars movie ... EVER. Of course rumors will abound all the time but they are garbage.
Just a question to the guy who said Lucas doesn't care about the story anymore and just wants more money .... Ummm .... what does he need more money for? You need to pay better attention dude ... all the stuff that comes out now is FOR the TRUE fans not money ... if you don't happen to be capable of understanding that ... well I guess that's fine but trying to shove that kind of crap down my throat will get you puked on every single time.
As for the live action TV show that is planned for 2010 ... it has nothing to do with the Force Unleashed game ... nothing. As has been said in this forum many times ... that show will be set in between ep III & ep IV and will show the early formation of the Rebel Alliance and all the battles that lead up to the events of ep IV. Call me crazy but I can't help but think that the story will be told from a "dark side" point of view.

To "Dom S":
The Clone Wars was just a test run and he's going to do 4-6 in CGI ? You might want to go back and read the rest of the article ... What is REALLY going on is that Lucas is converting all 6 movies into a real 3-D format to be re-released to theaters. There is no date given for this as of yet but it is going to happen according to what Lucas said in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly. There has also been talk that he is re-doing the parts of Yoda in ep I ... Yoda was still a puppet in ep 1 and Lucas has talked about redoing it as a CGI character. Lucas has talked about it in a few interviews but, as usual, didn't say yes or no. One thing he has said is that Yoda in ep 5 & 6 will not be changed.
When I was watching the new episode of south park I did not get the idea behind the raping of Indiana Jones. Can someone please explain the metaphor of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg raping Indiana Jones in the new episode. is there some sort of hidden meaning behind the raping?
the thing was that the crystal skuls was a pretty terrible movie compared to the others. this movie consisted of aliens which doesnt make any sence what so ever. there fore, the terrible change in story plot is the metaphor for the "rape". lol idk if thats true or not. Caught them raping a stormtrooper! lol
Had all the episodes been completed at the time and if so did he write them?
I am stunned ... absolutely STUNNED by the completely uninformed answers that you have gotten so far. It truly boggles the mind. Anyways ...
Short Answer:
Episode IV is the only one of the 6 movies that could be called a "stand alone" movie. By that I mean it had a definite beginning and a definite ending. If the movie had flopped nobody would have to know that there was more to the story. Episode IV is the one of the 6 that doesn't have all the "flashy FX" stuff. There's a good reason for that ... it didn't exist at the time the movie was being made. Lucas and company made it up as they went a long ... kind of like "How are we going to do that!?!?!?" - "I don't know just do it". The rest is history.
Long Answer:
The first thing that needs to be said is that the 6 movie Star Wars Saga that we have now bears little resemblance to the story that Lucas started out with although he denies it. The second thing is that Lucas seems to change the "How it all happened" story about every 8 to 9 months. My answer is based on his last version of how it happened.
In the early 70s Lucas began working on a massive "Space Opera" called "The Star Wars". What he ended up with was a 12 part ... yes, 12 part story that was to be told in the manner of the old Flash Gordon series of the late 50's & 60's. He saw the changes happening in the industry and realized that it wouldn't work that way so he then cut it down to a 9 part 3 trilogy story. The first trilogy was to be about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker; the second trilogy was to be about the rise of Luke Skywalker and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker; the third trilogy was to be about the "other Skywalker" that Yoda mentions in ep V and again in ep VI. Lucas started showing the story to all the big movie production companies of the day and was told by all of them that the paper the story was written on wouldn't even make good toilet paper. Disappointed but not discouraged Lucas continued to work on the script and with the success of American Graffiti he gained a little clout in Hollywood so he started around with his Star Wars story again. Most still thought it wasn't worth making but FOX decided to roll the dice, still thinking it would be a flop, and gave Lucas the start up money that he needed to get to work on Star Wars.
As for did he have them all written and just start in the middle ... yes and no. Yes, he did have a general outline and what would happen in each trilogy set down but nothing was written in stone. No because that general outline that he had was NOT what we ended up seeing on the big screen. You can trace it right back to the event that changed the story and sent it in a different direction ... Lucas changed things so that Anakin and Vader were the same person ... yep, in the first outlines of the story they were two different people. The other thing that can be seen as changing the way the story went was when Lucas decided to make Leia the "other Skywalker". The duel between Luke and Vader in ep VI was the main reason why this change was made. Lucas was stumped on how to get Luke to attack his father in a dark side fueled rage, he did this by making Leia the "other Skywalker" and having Vader threaten her. This change had 3 major effects on the saga, first, everybody went EEWWWWW ... he kissed his sister ... on the lips ... lol ... second, it eliminated the third trilogy ... third it brought Harrison Ford back on board for the last movie. Ford thought that ending up frozen in a block of carbonite was the perfect way for Solo to die but when Lucas told him about the change and that the character would live on Ford changed his mind and came back for ep VI.
When Lucas decided to make the prequels he had a couple very huge things standing in his way. First, how was he ever going to make 3 more movies as good or better than the OT ... it couldn't be done. Second, much of the back story that he had laid out years ago was now junk because of the events of the OT so he had to go back in and write new scripts for them.
Sorry for the long winded rant ... I tend to ramble a little after 3:00AM ... lol ...
May The Force Be With You
It sure doesn't seem like it (since the original trilogy).
I agree, but alot of people are so into it. Star wars is a lifestyle to some.
