I am a ameture writer, and have emailed a number of proffesional writers over the years:
Mack Maloney (WINGMAN series)
Stephen Coonts (Flight of the Intruder)
Michael Crichton (Jurrasic Park)
Michael Dimarcurio (submarine stories)
But it has always been my dream to write (and get a response from) Tom Clancy.
4 years ago, I was living in central texas and i got word that he was going to be coming to Fort Hood (huge army base) but never got confirmation in time before i moved from where i lived at the time. I missed meeting him and taking part in a contest to have dinner with Clancy.
Anyway my question is this?
Most writers have a web site and a way to contact them. Email usually. But Clancy has neither, that I am aware of.
he does have a number of fan web sites, but no direct web sites.
Does anyone know a email or contact page to Tom Clancy?
Instead of saying "a e-mail" say "an e-mail."
You use "an" instead of "a" when the word after it starts with a vowel. But there are circumstances when this doesn't apply, but it is rare.
Also, it is spelled amateur.

I heard that a Tom Clancy novel contained classified information which ending up getting a Navy Seal killed. Any truth to that? I suspect it is just a stupid rumor, but Clancy does know a lot about all things military.
I think unlikely, but who can say. I mean if I recall correctly, Clancy said the sailors on the Kursk were propbably already dead while everyone was trying to figure out how to rescue them. And on September 11, 2001 all I could think of when every one was reporting the attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon was that it sounded just like what happened at the end of Debt of Honor.
I want to buy a book for one of my friends, but he's a really picky reader.
The only thing I know about his book taste though besides that is that he absolutely loves Tom Clancy and has read every one of his books.
These sites list Tom Clancy readalikes:

Some of the authors I've read, some I haven't.
I would also recommend Vince Flynn, who writes great thrillers. His first novel is Term Limits (a definite twist on that phrase) and his first Mitch Rapp book (a special ops guy who works - loosely - for the CIA) is called Transfer of Power. I've read all of his books so far, and they are truly difficult to put down.
Another author you might consider is Robert Ludlum and his Bourne trilogy. There are other books in this series, but not written by Ludlum.
Another good one is Days of Drums by Philip Shelby.
If you look at the bottom of this page http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/c/tom-clancy/ you will see a list of authors and books which Tom Clancy recommends. They may be worth considering.
I hope this helps.
I am in a CATHOLIC high school book club. I want to sggest a Stephen King or Tom Clancy novel. The thing is that the members of the book club are into small-medium sized books. Nothing above 500 pages. What is a good Stephen King or Tom Clancy novel that is not too long so that we can read it for book club? I prefer Stephen King. Thanks.
The Dark Tower
The Shining
Misery
The hunt for red october
Patriot Games

have fun
I need at least 2 family members that are close to Tom Clancy and at least 2 close friends. I need to know how these people influence Tom Clancy as well as where you are getting your sources from (websites, books, etc). This is for a class essay and since this is my last hope my teacher says it is ok. So please help me find what I need.
Thanks a million! John.
Well, I can name one - Peter Angelos, Owner of Baltimore Orioles.
Tom Clancy has a small interest in the team, and is seen at the games.
He also owns a tank, and drives it around on his property, according to a former co-worker who lives near his house. I don't know why I'm telling you that, but somehow it might help you find a military connection.
Sorry, I couldn't be more help. Good luck with your class essay.
My literary tastes are focused mostly on horror, fantasy, and science fiction, but I'm currently trying to branch out, and Tom Clancy is one of the authors that I'm interested in checking out. However, since I have never read a book by Clancy before, I don't know where to start. What would you recommend?
The hunt for red october is the first he wrote
Red Storm Rising is pretty good, but a bit different from his usual fare, and doesn't have the backstory that the rest of them do.
Without Remorse is chronologically the first book in the Jack Ryan Universe.
Stay away from any of the collaborations (end war, spinter cell). They suck.
