How many times did Cate Blanchett try out for NIDA (The National Institute of Dramatic Art) before she got accepted by them? I know she was studying Commerce or something like that at university when she got accepted, but I'm just curious.

She studied Commerce & Art History after school, then left and went travelling for a year and when she came back, she auditioned and got in first go. Mel Gibson, Judy Davis and Toni Collette (although she dropped out in first year) also got in first go! But then again, Rachel Griffiths auditioned and didn't get in at all, so I guess you never can tell!

A full frontal picture of a standing 12 year old girl such as he took is not "art". Some of his work is great but pictures of naked children in sexual positions should be banned. \No great masters did this.

I don't think his images are pornographic but it is interesting that he keeps doing the same sort of stuff year in year out. Obviously it sells, and I wonder if some sort of latent paedophilia in his supporters/buyers underlies why he has become so damn popular. He is generally considered to be Australia's foremost contemporary artist. While his work is interesting, in my opinion it's not THAT good. Moody dark apocalyptic scenarios are dime a dozen, and trying to affect a "renaissance painting" style has also been done to death.

I care about climate change because of the effects rising sea levels will have on the pacific islands. I'm a Samoan and for many of us Pacific islanders rising sea levels will be devastating and in some cases wipe out whole cultures. Who on earth are you? Go back to your lattes, shopping malls and come back when you're ready to do something!You should start by looking after your own ethnic people before saving the world! What am I doing. We cycle and walk everywhere and only use the vehicle (1 vehicle) as a last resort. We recycle everything we can, we grow our own veges and we don't shop at or support multinational franchises! What the heck is a website going to do to stop the water from destroying my mothers village?
